I went into the woods today
To see what I could find.

You were incredibly bored. Your parents had both gone on business trips and won't be back for God knows how long. And all of your friends were either at work or on some vacation or other. There was nothing good on TV and you didn't like just sitting around the house. You had to do something! The only question left was, what?

You looked out the window wondering what the heck you should do and saw the forest that wasn't terribly far from your house. You had stories of people finding some interesting things in forests, and you did like to go on hikes every now and again.

After a few moments thought you decided, "Why not?" and got your hiking shoes on. "Who knows what I might find in there?"

I saw an owl
And he told me
That he was wise.

After you were about twenty minutes past the tree line, you heard an owl's cry. You looked up and saw a young man sitting in the branches above you. He had emerald green eyes, messy blond hair, and unusually thick eyebrows. His clothes looked like they were made of owl's feathers.

"What are you doing in the forest?"

You put your hands on your hips, "What does it look like I'm doing? I hiking to see if I can find anything interesting here."

The boy shifted a little on the branches and looked at you with a stern face, "You need to be careful. It gets dangerous in this forest, especially when it gets dark."

You looked at the sky and saw that it was twilight already, but you didn't want to turn back yet. You turned back to the owl, "I think I'll be okay, but thanks for the warning." You waved and kept on walking.

You continued on the trail and noticed that it was getting darker. You still didn't want to turn back yet, you hadn't really found anything. However you heeded the owl's advice and kept your gaurd up.

Soon enough the sun was comepletly gone and the moon rose, creating silver pools of light on the ground where it could get through the branches. I was really quite beautiful.

Suddenly you heard a rustling in a nearby bush. You looked at it, and jumped when you saw glowing amber eyes peer through the leaves.

I saw a fox
And he told me
To run away and hide.

Then the body attached to the eyes came out. It was a young man with red-brown hair and a curl sticking out of the left side of his head. He had fox ears and a tail, and he wearing pants that were like fox fur.

His wide amber eyes glowed in the moonlight and looked at you with fear. "Bella, these woods are not safe after dark! You need to run away from here and hide, right now!"

He said take your chances,
Run and hide.
He said take your chances,
run and hide.

Surprised, you took a half step back, "What?" You looked around expecting something to jump out at you any minute. "Why?"

"I told you, it's not safe here! It's best if you take your chances and run and hide now, before something happens!" His ears twitched as if they heard something and the fox looked toward where the sound was coming from with a look of utter horror on his face. "Run."

You looked in the direction he was, "Wh-wha-"

"RUN!" Just then you heard a loud roar so you both took off running as fast as you could.

You didn't look behind you for fear of what you might see, but you could hear it gaining on you. The fox started to run even faster, leaving you behind.

Then out of your periphial vision you saw a large paw with very sharp claws raise up. Instinctivly you raied your arm to protect you face. You felt a searing pain on your arm and you screamed, but you didn't slow down. You kept running even though you could feel blood running down your arm.

Whatever was following you wasn't anymore, but you still didn't stop.

Finaly you stopped running. You doubled over, trying to regain your breath. Your arm was throbbing, but at least it stopped bleeding. You looked at it and saw three large claw marks on your upper arm.

You clutched you arm and looked at your surroundings. That was when you realized, you had absolutly no idea were.

You figured it would be no help to stay in the same spot, seeing as no one would probably look for you. So you picked a direction and started to walk.

After a while, when the sun started to rise again, you came to a small clearing.

I saw a deer
And she told me
That she was free.

In the center of the clearing was a woman with long, wavy brown hair and green eyes. She had deer ears and a long dress made out of deer's fur.

She held out her arms to you and you couldn't help yourself but to run into them. You hugged her tightly and cried into her shoulder.

She stroked your hair, "Sshhhh. Everything's going to be alright. Those horrible creatures can't come here. You're safe."

She said stay a while,
Don't be afraid.
She said stay a while,
Don't be afraid.

She hugged you tighter, "You don't have to be afraid anymore." Then she pulled back a little so she could wipe away your tears. She gestured at your injured arm, "That arm is going to take a long time to heal. Why don't you stay here for a while until you heal?" She smiled at you and you couldn't help but smile back.

You sniffed a little and nodded, "I think I will, thank you."

The deer hugged you again. "Of course dear."

And so you came to live in the forest. And, well, you quite liked it. It was much better than being in an empty house with your parents rarely there.

You reunited with the owl and fox and became good friends with them. Along with them, you met other animals and were soon friends with them as well.

Time seemed to pass rather quickly, but you hardly noticed it. You were so happy with your new life that you had totally forgotten that you had planned to leave when your arm was healed.

It wasn't until many years later that you reluntantly decided to leave the forest, believing you had learned everything you needed from it.
